So going back to the nudity discussion of earlier…

I do think Game of Thrones is doing a lot wrong with the nudity, besides the producer who can’t contain his wank. The lack of male nudity does not attract female viewers, so they’re losing out on viewers and that goes beyond the fact it is alienating the female viewers it already has. Women watch HBO, for multiple reasons, but drama with porny scenes … that’s a big draw for women. Do have to go look up the facts? It’s pretty well known women prefer ‘porn with plot’ versus ‘porn.’

And as I spelled this out at Kissed by Fire just yesterday, the biggest mid-season jump in viewers for another show on HBO, True Blood, was due to a male nudity scene by and large. Very large, too big for some

So then why would HBO not try to garner female fans with male nudity? It’s bad marketing towards new viewers as well as for retaining.

Also, because even in it’s inane-ness, I think this comparison has some worth: Boobs have sat for 2 episodes so far this season, that’s two episodes without female nudity, meanwhile Sansa has sat for 3. What does that say?

WiC’s own FireAndBlood creeping out Alfie Allen today. Amazing Alfie still agreed to be interviewed after this moment.

I just hope you didn’t show him the Lair, Axey.

Neil Marshall on nudity and sexposition in ‘Game of Thrones’

Empire: I have a question about the nudity. We didn’t bring this up with George when he was here, but obviously it’s kind of become a thing in pop culture—the amount of nudity and “sexposition” scenes in Game of Thrones. You have a sexposition scene in this. Can you talk about that? [Laughter] What’s your position on sexposition?

Neil Marshall: It was pretty surreal. I’d not done anything like that in my films before. But the weirdest part was when you have one of the exec producers leaning over your shoulder, going, “You can go full frontal, you know. [Laughter] This is television—you can do whatever you want! And do it! I urge you to do it.” So I was like, “Okay, well, if you—you’re the boss.”

So they’re not worried, they’re not trying to pull back on it?

Not in the slightest, no, no. This particular exec took me to one side and said, “Look, I represent the pervert side of the audience, okay? Everybody else is the serious drama side—I represent the perv side of the audience, and I’m saying I want full frontal nudity in this scene.” So you go ahead and do it.

OH MY GOD THE 13-YEAR-OLD BOY ACTUALLY EXISTS

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

“Look, I represent the pervert side of the audience, okay? Everybody else is the serious drama side—I represent the perv side of the audience, and I’m saying I want full frontal nudity in this scene.”

But which one is the pervert side?

I would love for Jon Snow and Dany to end up on the Iron Throne together. That’s just if I’m watching it, and not in it, because of course I would love to see Sansa on the Iron Throne, too…
