HBO made Catelyn Stark say “and i knew i was the worst woman who ever lived” for not loving Jon Snow
HBO made Sansa Stark kneel.
Hm, just had a thought.
Catelyn gets attacked for not being nice to Jon Snow, and Sansa gets attacked for not kneeling for Tyrion.
Both actions are, when viewed out of context, not terribly nice things to do. However, for each party, it was their only way of saying “I do not consent to this situation.”
Catelyn couldn’t consent to Jon’s presence in her life, so she avoided him and ignored him.
Sansa couldn’t consent to her marriage to Tyrion, so she refused to kneel for him.
Both were acts of defiance in a patriarchal world that didn’t take their feelings into account.
